My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Harry is a medium sized dog that was obviously dumped dog in a rural neighborhood. He has some injuries and was shoo-ed away for about 2 months, until he made up with a lady and she started to feed him. He's about 1 year old and weighs 55lbs, has a soft terrier coat, and probably a miriad of breeds in him. He has been at the Sanctuary for about 3 months and is doing just fine, although he is a bit insecure about other dogs...once he gets to know them, he is fine, but rather than risk getting beat up, he tries to run our new residents off. This behavior has subsided, but he sure would make a great security walking buddy, as he just looks like he would guard his owner....truth is, he is Very affectionate with people and actually just fine with other dogs, as long as he is introduced properply...and gets to walk with them. He likes to swim here and is very polite in the house. In general, he is fine with smaller dogs. He is wonderful on the leash, knows basic commands and in the house has no issues at all. When i took him to our behaviorist, i just thought that she would say that he is a bit unsocial, but she said quite the opposite, that he was more than likely, a spoiled pup, that got tossed out, when he got too big. So we reward his gentle nature and monitor his reactions to other dogs. He is progressing in leaps and bounds, but will still need an experienced adoptor.
