Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Cavalier King Charles spaniels and dachshunds mix very well indeed. And not just in looks—Anastasia has a wonderful personality. She is extremely loving. She’s very happy for whatever attention you give, and is particularly fond of tummy rubs. You wouldn’t know it to look at those short, stumpy legs, but she is very acrobatic and can leap high in the air, and she will do so to signal her excitement every time you come home. She also has the perfect balance of kissy-ness—you’ll get enough kisses to know you are loved, but you’ll never walk away with a face full of dog slobber.
Anastasia is meticulously well behaved. She is completely housetrained, and so well trained that she will willingly trot outside in the middle of a thunderstorm to go. She barks infrequently and takes treats very delicately. She is completely non-destructive. She will not chew anything, except rawhides and the occasional stuffed dog toy. You can give her run-of-the-house when you’re gone and come home with your house just as you left it. This is a particularly good quality as Anastasia does not do well in a crate. At night, she will happily sleep on a blanket in a corner, or on the bare floor.
Inexplicably, this beautiful, well-mannered, and low-maintenance dog was dumped in a parking lot when her owners got divorced.
Anastasia was raised as an only-dog, and so while she gets along with other dogs and is perfectly happy to sit among them, she doesn’t really play with them. Kitties are another story. She adores my cat and would like nothing better than to play with her—but alas, my cat will have none of it.
