PLEASE READ THIS PROFILE AND THE REQUESTED CRITERIA BEFORE CALLING OR SUBMITTING AN APPLICATION. THANKS FOR YOUR ATTENTION AND CONSIDERATION

MEET ZEPPO....an absolutely adorable, wide eyed, red/white parti colored, 13 lb, 2 yr old Lhasa/Shih Tzu mix....who had the unfortunate experience of being dumped, by his owner, in the South Central Shelter. Without question, the economy has affected so many, and Zeppo is another statistic of the SLA shelter Terrified, this little man had no idea why he was there...but he knew he didn't like it. All the noises and strangers scared him witless....and the only way Zeppo knew to act was to protect himself. He cowered in the corner of the cage and tried to snap at anyone who came near him....so the shelter was going to euthanize him for being aggressive. ZEPPO IS NOT AN AGGRESSIVE DOG, but he was a fearful one from likely former abuse. Our trainer has worked with him and he has become her favorite dog. He doesn't like harsh correction -- but who does? He responds well to a firm, but gentle voice and bonds quickly and hard! He is a star student. Even at the shelter, once we got him out of the cage and he felt safe, he took a deep breath, signed and relaxed in my arms. Zeppo was skin and bones and is now at a better weight. He loves to roughhouse with you and play... and it is clear that his human needs to be a big part of his life. HE IS WONDERFUL WITH HIS PERSON....and anyone he knows -- and it does not take him long to bond hard and fast! A great home for Zeppo would be one with little chaos, exercise/walking and someone to dote on him. He doesn't like to be alone, but he does settle down nicely, if you have to go out. But, he will bark a little when you first depart. While we can't promise he is potty trained, we haven't seen Zeppo lift his leg....so that's a good thing! He loves to go on his walks, ride in the car, anything to be with you! He does love to give you kisses to show how appreciative he is to have you in his life...and you can really get lost in his beautiful eyes! Some good nutrition has helped his coat grow back long and lovely....he was a real mess when he came into the shelter! The best home for Zeppo would be one where he gets a lot of love and attention, training and good eats....speaking of which, Zeppo does not like to share his food!! He would be best with a canine companion as he loves to play, wrestle and have fun....and as long as he has you, he's AOK! He has become so much fun, bonds quickly and if you scream? He will mimick you! No kidding!! Take a look for yourself and see how smart Zeppo is...and how much fun he is to play with!http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mxr7wCOJkZs Not sure about how he is with cats....but Zeppo is very smart and likely could be trained to do anything! We love this little man, and so will you. No kids, please.
