My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Nikki appears to be a 1.5 year old whippet/pointer mix who was rescued from a shelter after being found as a stray. She weighs about 27 pounds. Foster mom says she is doing great in her foster home. She requires a lot of exercise (and loves the dog park) to work off anxious energy. Her behavior is much better if she has a chance to "work out" every day. Nikki is very shy, but is blossoming with patience and love. Nikki needs someone who understands her need to take things slow and build trust. She is house trained and crate trained. Nikki is fine with cats - she's a bit afraid of them, but leaves them alone. She would do best in a kid-free home because of her skittishness and fearfulness. In general, she is submissive to other dogs and will bark at strangers (she makes a nice alarm system), but is very snuggly and affectionate once she settles down. She is FREAKED out by bikes and motorcycles. Even in the car she will go nuts if she sees one, so it will take some time and desensitization for her to get comfortable with wheeled conveyances and of course, because of her skittishness, she needs to always be on a leash or in a fenced area. She would do best in a home with a calm dog. A fenced yard is required for Nikki. It would be best for her to have people around during the day to help continue her socialization. Nikki is with a 501c3 non profit rescue. Her $200 adoption fee covers her spay, heartworm test and pill, shots, worming, flea/tick prevention and HomeAgain microchipping.
