Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Meet Bert. Bert is a german shorthair pointer or catahoula leopard dog mix that was found along a country road when he was just a puppy. Some nice folks took him in, but ultimately couldn't keep him long-term. He is 1 1/2 years old now, a very gentle and sweet dog with beautiful markings, and uniquely, one blue eye.
Bert is a great dog with a great personality. He is playful and gets along great with other dogs. He is housebroken and learned quickly to go to the door to get his leash when he wants to go for a walk. Some leash training and basic obedience is still needed but he already knows how to sit and give paw and lay down. He LOVES swimming, LOVES to be outdoors, can’t resist chasing every squirrel he sees and WILL jump or scale a fence to get at it. So as a house pet, he’s going to need some training/restraint in that area. Bert is very sweet and a loyal companion, will thrive in a rural area, and will make a great hunting dog for those so inclined. He’s very smart and very trainable. He needs to be engaged in a lot of activity to keep him from getting bored. He would be very good in a family with another dog, and though his foster home does not have children, we have no reason to believe he would not be good with kids based on his excellent temperament. He is, however, in his foster dad's opinion, more of "dog's dog" than a child's playmate. He is a very affectionate dog and loves to cuddle and play, but he seems to ignore most children and would rather go play with other dogs.
Bert's adoption fee of $300 includes: vet exam, flea treatment/preventative, negative heartworm test, DHPP (distemper-parvo combo) vaccination, rabies vaccination, bordetella vaccination, microchip, deworming and neutering.
