Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Arrival Story: Sophie came to an overcrowded rural shelter as a stray. Since a shelter is no place for a little puppy as they can become sick very quickly, we rescued her.
Age / Weight: 33 lbs and approx. 11 months. Her breed mix is a mystery as she was a stray but from her look, she appears to be some type of whippet/pointer mix. She has the most beautiful coloring - like a deep chocolate brown with red tones on her head and legs but she is built like a little whippet with long legs and a lean svelt body. She is funny looking - web feet with a curly coated tail and her coat is short but dense. Her pictures do not do her justice. She is up to date on her vaccines and she has already been spayed.
Personality Description: LOVER! Sophie is a gem of a girl! She is very sweet, smart and VERY eager to please. She LOVES people (except for young children) and is a very active girl who needs physical/mental stimulation. She is just a great dog! She LOVES playing frisbee and learned quickly to catch it in the air. She would make a wonderful agility dog or a companion for someone who is active and wants an active dog that is easy to train.
Ideal Forever Home: Sophie is very smart and social. Currently she attends a dog daycare a few times a week so she can run and play with other dogs, which she just loves to pieces! She is a pretty active dog so she will need a person/family that would engage her mind and make sure she gets a few good walks or a run on a near daily basis. That person/family should also be home more than gone. While Sophie is crate trained, she really doesn't like to be crated 8-10 hours a day (she's too active for that).
She loves to run in the yard and would do best in a fenced yard (with supervision of course). Sophie still is easily distracted when off leash and it's thought she would not do well with an electric fence but if she had other outlets for her energy, she could go out on leash. She loves to play and have fun.
Sophie should also not go to a home without children under the age of 12. For some reason, she is very afraid of smaller children. Since we want her to go to a home where she'll live out her remaining days without issue, we think it best not to set her up for failure by placing her in a home with smaller children.. ADOPTION PROCESS - Our process involves all applicants first completing a pre-adoption application which gives us more information on the applicant, their family and their lifestyle. This helps us determine if the applicant is a good match for the pet they are trying to adopt. Adoption Application Adoption Fee: Her adoption fee will be $175 and includes age appropriate vaccines, deworming, microchip and she is already spayed.
Sophie - AGILITY is up-to-date with routine shots, house trained and spayed/neutered.
