Here's what the humans have to say about me:
My Story ...
Hi, my name is Dahlia. I am a very sweet little girl who is a unique (and colorful) combination of JRT and Blue Heeler. Some people may think that I already have two strikes against me just for my lineage, but I say, Pooey on them! I’m a wonderful little dog who loves to play ball and will even entertain myself with it! You don’t even have to throw it for me! And believe it or not, I LOVE cats!
I’m small and pretty and easy to care for.
Up to now, I’ve had it rough, but that’s all behind me, and I’m ready to be part of a great family. The only draw back is that I don’t care for most other dogs. I do have my favorites, (like my buddy Toby here in foster care. You could adopt us TOGETHER!), but for the most part I would just like it to be me and the cat (or cats) as far as other pets go.
Please come meet me. I promise to make you happy and give you lots of love in return for a safe and happy home.
About Me...
* Approximately 1 year old
* Weighs ~ 18 lbs
* She has already been Heartworm tested (negative) & Vaccinated
* Dahlia has already been spayed and is ready to go to her furever home.
* Shelter hold is up. Dahlia is currently in foster care.
Dahlia’s adoption donation fee is only $85. This low fee covers all her vetting expenses.
Cherokee Shelter animals have only 5 days to find a home or rescue group. The Humane Society of Cherokee County’s volunteers work to save as many animals as possible. The $85 adoption fee includes Rabies and DHPP vaccinations, spay or neuter, microchip, and heartworm test.
We are very rescue friendly and try to make it as pleasant as possible for rescue groups to save Cherokee Shelter animals. Please contact us via email at cherokeeshelter@gmail.com regarding rescue policies and pricing.
Because of the short time we have to place animals, and the lack of a veterinary clinic at the shelter, neither the Humane Society nor Cherokee County can guarantee the temperament or health of any animals made available for adoption. We will never knowingly place a dangerous or sick animal. It is impossible in the shelter environment to reliably test dogs with cats or small children. Sometimes the stressful environment may create fearful responses even with other dogs that would not occur in a normal home setting. All animals are not compatible with all families, and we reserve the right to refuse adoption when we think the placement may endanger either the pet or the family.
All rescued/adopted pets must be picked up the same day as their veterinary services. Otherwise boarding and additional payment arrangements must be made in advance.
The Cherokee County shelter is located in Gaffney, SC just a few minutes off I-85 and only about 20 miles northeast of Spartanburg, SC and about 50 miles southwest of Charlotte, NC.
