Here's what the humans have to say about me:
We would like to explain that if you are looking for a perfect dog, they are rarely found in rescue. Our dogs often have unknown histories and we do our very best to evaluate each dog with kids, cats, and other dogs as well as determine how they behave in a home. It is important to understand that we have some specific criteria for each dog based on their backgrounds and input from their foster families. The purpose of these criteria is to better match each dog with an appropriate family. While a certain dog might appeal to you based on breed, size, gender or appearance, you may not match the listed criteria. Please understand that we are not trying to make adoption difficult, we are trying to make each adoption successful for the dog and the new family.

If you have children, we suggest that prior to applying for a dog, you view the website http://www.livingwithkidsanddogs.com. The information is excellent and can help you determine which dog would be right for your family.
Gideon is a gorgeous, highly intelligent dog whom we believe is a mix of border collie and something else. He is about 4.5 years old. The folks that surrendered him had allowed him to become obese, he was depressed and withdrawn upon arrival at his foster home. After 2 months of daily walks he is now down to 40 pounds. He could easily stand to lose another 5-10 pounds, but hey who couldn't right? Gideon would love to be adopted by someone who will continue with his diet and exercise regiment. He would do best in a new home with adults, but dog savvy teens would be fine also. Young kids tend to scare Gideon and he would vastly prefer a new home without young children. He lives with a whole bunch of cats at his foster home and another dog, sometimes two, and he does just fine with them all. Gideon is highly social and very friendly. Grab his leash and harness and he is ready to go for a walk with you. He also loves to go for a ride and is a very good passenger. He sits very still and watches what's going on through the window. This wonderful dog will do best with someone who wants a buddy at his side and he will reward you with love and devotion. Daily exercise is a must, and Gideon is fine in the winter with his nice warm coat. He also LOVES rolling in the grass! Gideon is with a 501c3 rescue and is neutered and house trained. His adoption fee is $250 and includes full vetting, professional grooming, a HomeAgain microchip.
To ensure that this dog thrives in his new home and that the adoption works out for the dog and your family, these are the requirements for adoption. THESE CRITERIA ARE NOT NEGOTIABLE FOR ALL APPLICANTS. If you do not meet the criteria for this dog, PLEASE do not apply. Due to the volume of emails we receive, we do not answer those in which the applicant doesn’t match the listed criteria.
