Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Mia is approximately 1 year old (DOB March 19/08). Her initial start to life was not the best, and she was left tied up, alone, with minimal attention, from the age of about 3-8 months. She was fortunate enough to be rescued from that life by someone who expected to keep her forever. However, Mia has some special concerns that have led to the need to rehome her.
The first special concern is that Mia displays interdog aggression. This is only with certain dogs and is sporadic but unpredictable, so she must be in a home without other dogs. Her new owner must also be very diligent in managing this behavior.
The second special concern is that Mia is deaf. This is very common in Dalmatian crosses, but will not impede her ability to enjoy life. She is trained to hand signals and has a special vibrating collar to get her attention.
Mia is a wonderful dog that truly deserves a wonderful home. She is EXCELLENT with people and absolutely adores them! Like many deaf dogs, she is very attentive and willing to learn, and is very intelligent.
Mia has been evaluated by a professional animal behaviorist, who found that she adores people but cannot be with other dogs. She cannot be in a family with other dogs, cats, or children. It is recommended that her new home be with an older person (preferably male) or couple that is willing to spend a lot of time with her throughout her life and treat her like a child.
