Pom says : "All I want is someone who will promise to play fetch with me everyday- maybe take me for a long hike in the woods or for long walks on the beach. I'm fun, I'm Cuddly and I'm CUTE AS A BUTTON!!"

Pom is probably Pointer or Setter mixed with Cattle dog- she does seem to have some herding tendencies. I also like to think she is 1/2 spark plug as she is just a little ball of energy. She is pictured wearing her new stylish warm fall apparel.
Pom has learned a lot in foster care and is now trained reliably off leash. Check out some of her Youtube adventures.

Pom would benefit from an active adopter who just wants a kick butt fun little dog who is smart as a whip- but cuddly as can be. Pom would also benefit from a young playful doggie companion to help with her playfulness. It only took Pom a week to respond to her name and now she has a wonderful recall. I LOVE this little dog.
August 2008 We were contacted about Pomegranate (Pom Pom) earlier in the week and we had one day to secure a rescue as she was next in line to be put to sleep. She found her way to the shelter by being tied up to the fence over night. She She is VERY VERY playful and very smart. She learned her new name in a day and as she is a SUPER FRUIT she is the perfect Pomegranate. I would like to see her placed in an active home with another young playful buddy. She has great potential to be an agility dog- as she has run through my tunnel all by herself on several occasions. She is pretty much fearless and would be a blast for someone looking for an outgoing dog. Pom is petite- maybe only 30lbs tops. She is precious and glad to be safe in foster care.
This dog will need a safe fenced in yard and a non-smoking home.
Due to the fact that many of our dogs have come from shelters or abuse or neglect situations, and unless we have tested these dogs on upland birds and feel they are confident and ready to work as a hunter with families where they will be trained with kindness and patience, we will only adopt to pet homes.
All adoptions include vaccinations, deworming, microchips, spaying or neutering, collar, leash and an information adoption packet. All IBR dogs are crate trained, housebroken, socialized with other dogs and loved on by their human foster parents. Adoption fees are used to cover vetting expenses and special need dogs' vetting care.
If you are interested in adopting this pet, please fill out an online adoption application.

Help support IBR with the purchase of a 2009 12 Month Wall Calendar and choose from Pointers, Setters, Hunting Dogs, Mutts & Friends and Puppies. All of the dogs and puppies featured in these calendars would have been euthanized in shelters across the Mid-West had IBR not stepped in to save them. Your support can really make a difference!!
Check out our new Ebay Store with fundraising shirts featuring several birddog breeds like Pointers, Setters, GSP's, Vizslas, and Labradors. All purchases will help off set our high vetting expenses and may also help pay for food for some of our long term senior and special needs foster dogs in rescue. Please click on the Ebay icon for more info.

Make a donation or sponsor a homeless dog. Illinois Birddog Rescue has always prided itself in not turning away any sick and injured dogs; animals that most shelters would have euthanized. We have saved many dogs with heartworm, tick borne illnesses, broken legs, missing legs, blind dogs, a new deaf puppy, dogs suffering from Parvo and especially senior dogs that may need expensive health care to help them get ready for adoption. In February of 2006, in one weekend, we brought in 20+ dogs from the Boat Mountain Tragedy, and that depleted our emergency funds. Please help us continue to help those birddogs that have suffered terrible abuse and suffering by making an online donation here:
Visit the IBR Home Page and browse our new online store to find out the many ways you can shop for the dog lovers in your life while helping homeless birddogs. We also have a dedicated volunteer busy creating calendars, mugs and T-shirts at our Café Press fundraising web site.
