Here's what the humans have to say about me:
***PERRY WILL BE ADOPTED TO AN EXPERIENCED GUARDIAN BREED HOME ONLY***
ABOUT ME:
Meet Perry! This handsome 3 year old American Bulldog is by far one of our most photogenic dogs! Perry came to us from a shelter, so his past is a bit of a mystery, but we do know that he didn’t have the best life before rescue. Although he acts tough in new situations, once he realizes that everything is okay, he relaxes and his true loving nature shines through.
WHAT I NEED IN A HOME:
More than anything, Perry needs a forever home that understands that building trust takes time, and that will allow him to gain confidence and come around on his own time. Although it gets better each day, initial introductions with people are still hard for him, especially when he meets new men. However, once he realizes he can trust you, he warms up quickly and becomes a super snuggle monster.
We believe that Perry would do best in quiet, consistent home, since households with lots of activity, regular visitors, and/or small or multiple children would probably overwhelm him. Adults-only households would be ideal, but with gradual, measured introductions, we think Perry could live in a home with children over the age of 13.
After proper integration, Perry would likely be okay in a home with large female dogs, although we are unsure of how he would interact with small dogs. Perry is quite interested in cats, and probably not in the right way, so a home without felines would be best.
THE DETAILS:
Perry is housebroken, can use a dog door, and is crate trained. He is good on a leash, knows basic obedience, and is great in the house. He is heartworm negative, neutered, micro-chipped, and up to date on vaccines.
For more information on Perry or any of our other dogs, please email us at: info@bullpenrescue.org.
Ready to give Perry the forever home of his dreams? Fill out our Adoption Application, located at bullpenrescue.org under the 'work with us' tab.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
We highly recommend that our potential adopters fill out an online application as soon as possible, as it greatly expedites the process of finding the right dog for your situation. The adoption app is available on our website (www.bullpenrescue.org) under the 'work with us' tab. If you choose not to fill out an application before inquiring about a particular dog, please briefly tell us about yourself, family, and lifestyle since this will help us determine if the dog you’re interested in is a good match.
Our dogs are available for adoption nationwide but preference is given to adopters willing to do an in-person meeting. Please understand that our dogs are not adopted on a first-come, first-serve basis, but rather we strive for a “perfect placement” so we know that they will not be failed again.
