Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Boy - AVAIL 4/23/17! :) Male,
8 y/o, 38 lbs Beagle / Chow Chow mix
- Neutered
- Medium/ Low Energy
- Very friendly to all (people, dogs, cats)
- Great companion!
- Fully recovered from Heartworm treatment
- Fully recovered from mange
- Saved from death row
- No fenced yard required
- Crate-trained
- MAY be house trained. Had to be on crate rest so no opportunity to mess in the house.
Boy has blossomed into a super friendly pup who seems to have learned that people can be a wonderful thing. He won't let you forget that he knows it! He's constantly plopping down in front of you for belly rubs and really enjoys receiving attention and affection despite all that he's been through. It's time he be loved for the rest of his life!
HISTORY: Boy's former owner contacted the shelter to remove the "dying dog" (him) from her home. When officers arrived, they found him nearly furless, curled up in a ball, unable to get up, and reeked of skin infection. She admitted to leaving him untreated without medical care and letting him roam loose throughout the neighborhood (he had been impounded once before by the same shelter in 2013). There was evidence he had also been chained up in the front yard for years. He was so weak he had to be picked up and carried to the officer's truck to be taken away. After the subsequent cruelty investigation was closed, the shelter approved him for euthanasia (since legally he was an owner-surrender). This is when we found him, pulled him off death row, and got him the veterinary care he needed including having heartworms, sarcoptic mange, and very underweight.
