1/10/09: Johnny is a typical hound who loves food (which is great for training). He is learning basic commands (learned to sit quickly!). You can tell that Johnny just wants to fit in. He is still a bit jumpy, but if you tell him to sit he will. He crates very well (no whining, crying, etc.) and loves to sleep on his comfy blankets.
Johnny gets along well with his foster siblings (both about 35 pounds) and loves to play. He is certainly enjoying his new found freedom after being locked up for so long. Call Allison at 901-240-9848 if you have any questions or would like to meet him.
1/2/08 - Good news for Johnny - He has gone to a foster home (thank you Allison) where he is living peacefully with several other dogs (he enjoys romping and playing with our very own Howard and Trixie). This boy is so sweet! he weighs 53 lbs and is Heartworm negative. Now he just needs an adoptive home or rescue to take him!
12/20/08: Thank to doggie angel, Nancy, for sponsoring Johnny's vetting! What would we do without you?
12/15/08: HELP!!! Johnny is almost out of time. The shelter has no room left anywhere and he has been there for 3 months now!!! Not to mention, this is no way to live. Johnny is such a great dog, he just needs someone to give him some time and love. Please hurry before it's too late!
10/14/08: We cannot seem to get a hold of Johnny's previous owners to find out his real name. Johnny is one of the sweetest pups. He just needs basic obedience training (and to be neutered...). He just wants to please and will do so with a smile! This boy deserves to know what a FOREVER home really is. He is living outside due to overcrowding. Please foster this adorable young boy.
9/09/08: We are calling this guy Johnny for now (paperwork was not yet completed at the time of pictures). He was surrendered by his owner because when they adopted him, they thought he was a Beagle/ Dachshund mix. Well he grew and grew and grew. He is a very nice dog and all he wants to do is play. He was an only dog before and therefore became bored in the backyard (bored dogs become destructive...).
All Johnny needs is some consistent attention. He would LOVE to have a canine friend to play with. During pictures, he was so excited playing with Max (also on this site). In the right home, Johnny will thrive- could it be yours???
We urgently need foster homes- time is of the essenc at this point as there are no more spots available in the shelter. Call Joan at 870-739-5412 between 1 and 5 or 870-739-1145 in the evening. You may also contact Allison at 901-240-9848.

Every little bit
helps. Please include my name so that the shelter knows the money is for
me. Sponsorship will be applied towards my vetting which will make it easier
for me to find a rescue to save me.
