Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Howdy, Folks! Maverick here, fresh off the trail. You may know that I’m not the kind to settle down in one place, but the time has come for me to find my forever hitchin’ post, pick out a family and start my new life.
Now, I’ve been known to pull a few fast ones in my day; I’m pretty clever if I say so myself. Doggie door? No problem. If you don’t have a doggie door I’ll go stand by your door to signal when I need to take a break. Car rides? Just like ridin’ a horse; I sit back, relax and enjoy the scenery.
I may get the itch now and then to want to wander, so you’ll need to make sure there aren’t any holes for me to sneak through your fence. And I’ll give you fair warnin’ that I’m pretty good at jumpin’, so I’ll need fence to keep me corralled until I’m sure I’m supposed to stay.
I learned a lot out on the trail, especially how to strut like a gentleman, straight and steady, right next to my companion. The trail gets really dusty, so I know bath time is important. Baths aren’t my favorite pastime, but I do stand stock still and endure the scrubbin’ and rinsin’, and I love snugglin’ in a warm towel afterward.
Social settings are a breeze for me. I’m cool with cats and other dogs, but my favorite breed is a two-legged human. I’m content around kiddos but I just adore adults. I prefer to be right next to a human, so when there are other four-legged friends around, they may need to ask me to join in a game of chase before I will play with them. Just get me started and I’m rarin’ to go! Since I spent so much time alone in my travels, I am lookin’ for a place where I can have a good buddy with me all the time, either four-legged or two. I might start singin’ if I’m left alone for too long.
I never did take anything that wasn’t mine, but I’m lookin’ for heart or two to steal, and then call it a game. My Pappy used to say, “The only time you ever quit when you’re winnin’ is after you’ve won it all.” How about takin’ a chance on good ol’ Maverick? I may be just what you’re lookin’ for to make a full house.
Maverick is a 16 pound Rat Terrier mix and approximately 4 years old. He is neutered, up-to-date on his vaccinations, heartworm tested and microchipped. If this handsome dude speaks to your heart, fill out an adoption application!
