Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Dixie was dumped at a shelter in TX with her sister and her Dad. The family apparently only wanted to keep the mom for breeding, and there was nothing we could do about it :(
The Dad of the sister's was pretty protective of them, obviously, since they were in a new, scary environment and had just been ripped from everything they knew. Since their Dad was protective, Dixie and Pixie were grouped in with him and were going to be euthanized at the shelter. Our rescue pulled them and got them into great foster homes. Their Dad is now in training for his behavior and is doing wonderfully, and Dixie and Pixie and the sweetest, most social dogs around. It was clear that their Dad was showing some negative behavior as a product of how he was raised, not due to biology cuz his little girls are just AMAZING.
Dixie is now 13 weeks old and is ready to start looking for her forever home here in CO. She has been going to work with the foster mom since she was 8 weeks old, and is just such an amazing, social, happy, snuggly little girl. Dixie is the smaller one of the sisters. At 13 weeks she is still only 3.5lbs. She is slightly more shy, but not by much. Dixie loves to play with her sister and once play time is over, she wants to either be snuggled up with Pixie or with her foster mom. She already does great in the crate and is doing exceptionally well with potty training at such a young age!
We would love to see Dixie's training and socialization continue since she is already on such a great path. She would do great with gentle kids who know how to handle a very small pup, or with another doggy or kitty sibling. Since Dixie is such a great girl, we believe she would also do well as an only child, as she seems to be super adaptable.
