Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Princess is a beautiful Pointer/Rat Terrier mixed breed adult female dog. She is 4 years old, house and crate trained, dog, cat and kid social. She weights between 27-30 lbs. Princess was surrendered to the shelter with her adorable litter of puppies. JCAPL pulled her litter of puppies and adopted them all out, and couldn't leave her behind. Unfortunately, Princess turned out to be heartworm positive. When she was spayed, she suffered a spinal stroke and was partially paralyzed for a few days. She has fully recovered, with the exception of an occasional leg twitching when she sleeps and a pension to carry her leg when she runs. However, as a result she is not a good candidate for the traditional heartworm treatment and in lieu of that she has been being treated by the "slow kill" method, for the last several months and monthly heartworm prevention doses will complete the process.
Princess loves to cuddle and puts complete trust in her people. She gives gentle timid kisses, and has a fondness for small children, who apparently interested her. If a child is visiting, that is where she wants to snuggle. She is obedient and quick to respond to commands, and is quiet and demure while indoors and very happy to curl up for an evening of TV. She needs a fenced in yard, because when she is outdoors, she loves to run and is an amazing hunter and forage, crossing a span of space in a nano-second.
Princess' adopter must commit to continuing to keep her on heartworm prevention, (only a product safe for a heartworm positive dog), as they would need to do for all JCAPL dogs until she is heartworm free. She is a lovely, sweet, sweet dog ready for her forever home.
