Here's what the humans have to say about me:
The Doctor is in! How are you feeling today? I’m feeling happy and playful. My name is Doc, and I’d love to meet you! Well, I’d love to meet you, other dogs, cats, and kids that can handle my silly antics. I pretty much love everybody. As for my breed guess? They think I am a Schnauzer-Cairn Terrier mix. I’ve got a wirey, wild man hairdo, and lots of random highlights here and there. It’s just my style. Well, I’m the new guy at NBS Animal Rescue, and am a happy, 7 month old, 18lb pup. As you might imagine, I just got my big-boy teeth, and am really enjoying my chew toys and crunchy treats. Sometimes, I mistake fingers for treats when I get excited, so it would be best if I was in a home with kids 6 years and up, with a mom and dad that will help gently teach me my manners, because I certainly don’t mean any harm. Infact, my biggest thing I am trying to learn is to hold my licker. I can’t help it, I want to jump up and kiss everyone I meet. Thankfully, my foster home is teaching me to be more of a gentleman. They are really proud of me, and said I’m “SUPER smart”. In just a few tries, I learned and now know “sit, lay down, leave it” and “fetch!”. Whoa, that fetch game is pretty fun. Have you ever tried it? Basically, you throw any toy for me, and I run as faaaaast as I can, and bring it back for you to do it again. It’s pretty awesome. Oh! My foster home said I should also tell you that I’m getting an A- in potty training. I’m getting really close to being 100%, and treats are my favorite reward for doing business outside. However, I do have an A+ in snuggling, I LOVE to have my belly rubbed. If you get down to my level or pick me up, I wrap my paws on your shoulder to hug you and hold on tight. I just love to be loved, but don’t we all? The other thing I’m still working on is being quiet in my crate. It doesn’t take me long to settle down (under 5 minutes) but I do like to sing the blues for a little bit there, so I will need a home with people (and neighbors) that doesn’t mind helping me with that.
Did I say anything about “fetch”? If I did, I’ll say it twice – I LOVE that game. It’s my favorite. Sometimes, if no one is around to throw the toys for me? I’ll throw them up in the air for me to catch myself. My human friends seem to think that is pretty funny. It is a total riot to do though… So, do you think I could be the fella for you!? You can apply for me today at www.NBSanimalRescue.com
Love,
The Doc!
P.S. Here are the helpful steps in applying!
1.) Visit www.NBSAnimalRescue.com happy to adopt me. As an approved adopter, my rescue friends can set up a home visit so I can meet you, and whatever other pets you have in the home to make sure we all get along. Our rescue is 100% run by volunteers, to help your application be processed as quickly as possible, please make sure to do the next steps too. : )
2.) Call your veterinarian and give them permission to release info about your current and past pet’s veterinary history.
3.) Call your references too! Let them know to expect a phone call from an unknown phone number, and a rescue team member will need to talk to them on the phone as a reference.
My adoption fee is $250.00 and includes a DHPP vaccine, bordatella vaccine, de-worming, spay/neuter surgery, rabies vaccine (age appropriate), heartworm test (age appropriate), heartworm preventative, flea/tick preventative, microchip insertion, bath, nail trim, ear cleaning, leash and collar and one week's worth of food. If you’d like to meet me, please apply online and to become an approved adopter!
Our adoption process requires that any pet in your household be current on vaccinations and heartworm preventative , spayed/neutered (unless a documented medical reason is on file with your vet). Dogs must be current on Distemper DHPP combo vaccine and Rabies vaccine, cats must be current on Distemper and Rabies at the time of application. This also applies to any pets in your home within the past five years.
While I hope that you have fallen in love with me and are ready to apply, I understand if I might not be the perfect pup for your family just yet. However, would you please help by sharing my picture on Facebook, twitter or by email? I'm a great pup and need a loving family to give all of my love and puppy kisses to! Thank-you for your help!
