Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Devon is about 4 years old and 47 lb male Border Collie/Retriever Mix. I think the best way to describe Devon is to quote his foster mom from Indiana. "If we don't find a home for this dog soon he is gonna end up getting a bath and moving in with me!" "You would not believe what this dog knows!" Is that isn't enough to get this guy adopted then what is? As you can see his foster mom took great care of him and then we brought him up to Illinois. We began fostering Devon on February 13th. What we can tell you after a couple of days is that Devon as been everything as quoted. He is a very loyal, lovable dog and has a big heart. He is just a happy go lucky guy whose tail wags. Just look at those pictures.
His first day or two was about as good or better than could be expected. Devon is learning the routine where first thing in the morning we get up, go outside and go to the bathroom, then come inside and eat breakfast. We are teaching him some manners and have him sit before we feed him, although he already knew that. We have a German Shepherd mix of our own, and another foster Bowzer (a boxer/mastiff), and Devon has had no issues being around either of them so far. He is playful with other dogs so whether Devon will be your only dog or will be an additional pet I'm sure he will do great in either situation. Devon enjoys playing with ropes and squeaky toys. He also liked his Valentine's Day present that you see in one of the pictures. Devon has shown no aggression with toys or food either.
Devon is crate trained and sleeps in there at night or goes in there when we leave the house. He also appears to be potty trained as well and hasn't had an accident in our house, but as with all new dogs we keep an eye on him and make sure he learns to go outside. Basically all Devon wants is to be loved, played with, given some attention and pet. Devon really enjoys being near you and wouldn't mind being up on the couch and snuggling up with you if you are watching TV.
I would say Devon has a medium level of energy, even though he's 4, and would do great in just about any type of home.
If you want him to play he has the energy but the nice part is he can relax nicely and be very calm. I certainly see him being able to go for a walk or jog around the block with you. Devon absolutely enjoys the outdoors and roaming around our backyard. This handsome guy deserves a forever home and would make a great addition to your family. One final quote from his previous foster mom....."we have a winner in this one!" Devon is up to date on all his vaccinations and has been neutered. For more information contact Mark or Karla at 630-881-8286 or e-mail us at msr1015@yahoo.com. His adoption fee is $200.
