My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Duke is 5-1/2 months old. He currently weighs 42+ pounds and is growing daily. At first we thought he was a Rhodesian Ridgeback, but we did a DNA test on him and it came back showing he is a Doberman Pincher, American Staffordshire Terrier cross, and his parents appear purebred. We will give the adopter the printed results of the DNA test upon adoption. The test info estimated that his adult weight will be 62-99 pounds. When I look at him I see Doberman face and body shape so most likely he will be on the upper end of this weight range. He has gained 16 pounds since coming into rescue on Nov 7.

Duke's foster home has children 5-12 years in age and he plays very well with them. He is learning to walk on the leash, sit and lay down, but he is still a puppy and is easily distracted. He is a loving puppy and his foster family is having a hard time letting him go because they love him so much; however size is a serious consideration when choosing a family pet. Duke would love a playmate for exercise but he is an 'indoor dog' -- he must be with his family and not kept outside. So if you plan on housing your new pet outside, please do not apply for Duke. He is a good boy with a deep serious bark and needs to be close to his family. He is very loyal and his breed history suggests that he will be protective of his family, another consideration when adopting Duke. Duke has had his full vaccination regimen including DHLPP, Rabies and Bordatella. He is on heartworm medication and current. He is microchipped, neutered and a very healthy boy. He is also very loved.

If you are interested in meeting and possibly adopting Duke, the first step is to submit an adoption application. Please go to our website www.k9bestfriendsforever.com and click on Adopt which will take you to our online application form.
