Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Our beautiful boy, Andy, is an exquisite looking puppy, who came to us recently from farm folk, with his brother, Amos, and Dam, Gabby, a Great Pyranees. Amos and Andy are the products of an unsupervised, and unplanned, coupling between Gabby and the farm resident Red Heeler Cattle Dog. This group of dogs was deemed unsuitable for farm work, and were surrendered to local rescue, so that they could be adopted as family pets.
Amos has been adopted, but Andy still awaits his forever family. Seven months old, he has grown up beautifully, and is developing into a lovely family dog. Andy is a bit shy at first, but warms very quickly, and his continued positive experiences in the human world will help him grow and maintain an even keel.
Andy is a medium sized dog, weighing 33 pounds. He appears to have grown into his feet, and his structure is formed, but we suspect he may round out to about 40 pounds. He is a manageable size for either home or apartment living. Andy has a short coat, which is largely white, with tan markings and some black speckles on his face. From certain angles, he sports a slight reddish hue, as some of the ivory hairs are intermingled with coppery red ones. He has a very distinctive appearance: the look of a Pyrenees, in a cattle dog-sized package.
Andy would be a great dog for an active family, with older children. We wouldn't want to put him around toddlers, but he would do well in a busy family in which everyone is on the same page about the requirements for raising an older puppy, and everyone is willing to do the work. Andy is at the adolescent stage, where he needs strong leadership and continued obedience training. Also, he needs a fair amount of exercise to channel his puppy yayas. A bored, frustrated puppy is a recipe for mayhem. Folks who adopt Andy must live a reasonably active lifestyle, and have the time to focus on his exercise and training.
Andy has good house manners, and is house trained and crate trained. Adopters should expect the occasional accident as he transitions to a new home. Andy is in excellent health and has been recently neutered. He is vaccinated for rabies, parvo, adrenovirus and distemper, and has been dewormed, and has tested negative for heartworm, lyme, earlichia and anaplasmosis. If you are interested in Andy, please call or text Denise at 860-908-9738, or email Denise@EskiesOnline.com for an adoption application.
