My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Well, to start with, there is nothing Dippy about this boy (he says you are welcome to change the name he came to us with!). He is a handsome, sweet, calm guy who had the misfortune of being advertised on facebook, adopted by someone for a few months who could not afford a dog, and then being dropped off into rescue. Of course, we think his ending up with us in rescue is the best thing that could have happened to him since we will be very intent on finding him a permanent, responsible home.

His most recent owner had only good things to say about him, including that he was housetrained and would let her know when he had to go out. She said he was good with his recent grooming.

Dippy has soft, smooth blond and cream fur that we were told is long (do not know how long) and fairly straight. He seems to be a non shedding dog and he will be gorgeous when he is in full coat. Right now, he is so shaved that his fur is shorter than a short haired dog but do not be fooled by his current appearance. Give him a little time and he will be a fluffy blond pup.

We have no idea what breed he is, just picked Schnauzer as one possibility because of his cute face and non shedding fur, and we picked Tibetian Terrier because of his size, build, fur that is more straight than curly (could also be a poodle mix) and temperament. You are welcome to make a guess, too!

Dippy is an affectionate guy who comes in close for hugs and enjoys a good cuddle. When you pick him up and face him, he may wrap his arms around your shoulders, so sweet. He appreciates lap time. All he wants is someone to love him unconditionally and be as faithful a friend as he is.

He seems to be an even tempered guy who takes things in stride. We have only had him a few days and already he is feeling more comfy. He has been good with all the people here and is good with the dogs. He is rooming with a female Lab mix and does not seem to be possessive about food, bones and such, just sharing nicely.

Dippy is great on the leash and enjoys walks. He does not seem interested in pulling, just maintains a nice, easy pace with you. In general, he seems to be a cooperative kind of boy.

He may not have had many chances to play with toys before since he seems uncertain about squeaky ones. His prior owner said he was not interested in toys. He certainly is not a high energy dog who needs a lot of entertaining, a nice thing!

We think he is about 4-5 years old but could be younger. We will update when we hear what the vet thinks. He is about 20 pounds.

Dippy is a lovely boy with a great personality who should be an easy keeper in his new home. We have not tested him with kids, but he seems to be the kind of dog that just gets along well with the world in general so should be fine with well mannered ones.
