Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Harry Potter fans, meet our version of Sirius Black. Sirius Black, the dog, has a lot in common with his wizard namesake (Harry Potter's godfather). He was imprisoned like the wizard (well, sent to the shelter) for no good reason at all. He's also smart, brave, loyal, and protective. Fortunately, he differs from the wizard in that this Sirius is well-behaved and quite calm. Sirius is about 3 years old and weighs 43 pounds. He is very sweet, gentle, and a total love bug. He gets along with other dogs but is way too rough for cats. He would prefer to be the only dog. He is friendly and loves people once he understands that they are friends. Sirius is smart but he is also a little stubborn and wants to do what he wants to do. He needs someone to be in charge and teach him what is expected of him. He is not fond of a crate, but has not seemed to need one. Sirius has learned how to use the doggie door at his foster home and loves going outside. He also likes to ride in cars and especially loves walks. Because he is so smart we think he would be a great candidate for agility training which will exercise his brain as much as his body. Sirius will need a home with a 6 ft. wooden fence because he can scale an iron or chain link fence. Let us know if you are looking for a smart, loving, and really cool companion.
We are a RESCUE GROUP, not a shelter, and all of our animals are in foster homes. To start the adoption process, email us at adoptions@earstexas.org requesting an application. Submitting an application does not commit you in any way, but helps us make the best match between people and our available dogs. All of the dogs in our program are inside dogs and are completely vetted including all vaccinations, spayed/neutered, free of internal parasites, microchipped, heartworm negative and on prevention before adoption. Our adoption process includes an application, check of vet records or personal references, interview, neutral site meet & greet with the dog and your family, and a home visit.
