Kermit-Sweet Playful Pup
This handsome boy is Kermit. Kermit is a 6 month old Poodle mix. His vet records list him as a Schnoodle. If he is a Schnoodle I am betting he is a cross between a Giant Schnauzer and a Standard Poodle because he is still a baby at only 6 months of age, and already weighs 55 pounds. He is going to be a big boy. Due to his apparent Poodle lineage, Kermit does not appear to shed and will require occasional grooming.

Kermit was too much dog for the elderly lady who bought him. Even though she paid a breeder quite a bit of money for Kermit, she took him to a local shelter where he was scheduled to be euthanized because they were out of space. Kermit was a great favorite with the shelter staff who searched for a rescue group to take him. And that is how he came to be with Furry Friends Animal Rescue.

You may be wondering how he got the name Kermit. Well, the primary reason is he is cute, soft, warm and fuzzy like a Muppet. But Kermit has one other -- less desirable frog-like trait. He is a jumper. It is important to keep in mind that he is still a baby and is very affectionate and exuberant, because he has a tendency to want to jump up on you for attention. Since Kermit is a large dog, he will need some training. However, he is a smart dog and should learn quickly.

When I first got Kermit, he did not appear to know how to play fetch. He has learned to go get his toy and bring it back to me in the last hour and has been fetching continually while I have been typing his bio. The shelter staff indicated that he learned to sit and was learning to shake hands in the short time they had to work with him.

Anyone interested in our dogs must be over 21. We are only able to adopt to homes within a reasonable driving distance of the dog's foster home and please be prepared for a home visit by one of our volunteers. We do not adopt on first-come-first-served basis, we want to make sure the dog is right for the family and vice versa based on what we know about the dog's personality, habits and behaviors. Our adoption fee for dogs is $175. You can complete an online adoption application on our website http://www.furryfriendsanimalrescue.org- we will get back with you asap.
