My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Marigold is a six-week-old female dwarf hamster rescued from Chicago Animal Care and Control when her guardians could no longer care for their ever-growing population.

Marigold is fully independent and has been handled daily since being separated from her mommy.

Hamsters are very fun to watch and handle. When they are not sleeping, they are busy busy busy ... spinning on their wheel, playing and stuffing their cheeks with all their favorite foods. The main diet of hamsters are pellets, supplemented with small amounts of fresh foods.

Marigold is happy, healthy, energetic and mostly nocturnal so she typically sleeps or hides a good part of the day and awake in the afternoon for a romp, snack and a run through her tubes.

She is currently living with me in Chicago's Andersonville neighborhood. With regular handling she is gentle and fun. But, I'd recommend her for adults or teens, and not children under the age of 13.
