Here's what the humans have to say about me:
2015-01-03: Gerry is a 5 Year Old, 90 lb., gorgeous Chocolate Lab/Doberman mix. Thus, the two-tone tuxedo.
Naturally, Gerry is a lower energy, slow moving kind of dude. Though initially timid and unsure at times when meeting strangers, Gerry has proven in foster care that he gets over it pretty quick with lots of love, reassurance and treats! However because of this, Gerry would do best in a quieter home with limited visitors.
Gerry has lived successfully with cats and is cat tolerant. He walks very nice on the lead. A walk a day seems to be plenty for Gerry as he really prefers to be an indoor dog with you. Gerry is a very good friend to all the dogs. Having a buddy is a bonus in his next home, though not required.
If you are a full time worker, Gerry should do well as an only dog, leaving visits to the dog parks and walks on the weekend for just the two of you.
Gerry crates beautifully and is often times found hanging out in his crate without being asked. If you are not crate trained, no problem! Gerry will train you himself.
Gerry is very sweet and will try to lap dog as much as possible. Rubs and kisses are never enough for Gerry. He is basically a big baby and often times gives puppy eyes when he has to take a stern correction. Because Gerry is super sensitive and his feelings get hurt easily, Gerry is better matched to a female only owner.
Gerry may show a bit of whiny at times during early transition. However, once he learns his routine and is given direction to his crate, Gerry relaxes nicely.
Gerry is trustworthy when left to free roam in the home however he is still a Lab with an appetite. Tidy trashcans are a help.
Gerry resides successfully today in foster care with kids that are young, however Gerry is better suited for the older child, or an adult only home.
Gerry has proven to be a wonderful foster mate and family member, but he deserves his forever home.
If you read something in Gerry’s bio that strikes your fancy, please reach out to your SCLRR family rep!
