My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Once I knew only darkness and stillness... my life was without past or future... but a little word from the fingers of another fell into my hand that clutched at emptiness, and my heart leaped to the rapture of living. - Helen Keller
Mia, like so many others, has a story to tell. Unfortunately we will never really know what happened to this sweet humble girl. We know that something terrible traumatized her into a fearful shaking existence. She has come a long way in the last 2 months since being pulled into rescue. Mia has gone from being absolutely petrified to leave her crate to now braving the world. This is such a huge step for our girl and it tells us that with time and patience she will gain more confidence. She is now at a point where she is out and about but sudden movements and loud noises can be very scary for her. Mia will need a special home with special people willing to give her the time and attention she will need to completely recover spiritually from her ordeal. Mia is a beautiful 2 year old 85 lb Anatolian Shepherd mix, fawn in color. This gorgeous girl is well mannered, house trained, crate trained, and walks beautifully on a leash. She feels safe among her people. With gradual introduction to new situations and positive reinforcement we see a brave new girl emerging and blossoming to the best friend you'll ever have. We feel that Mia will do best in a quiet low key home that will provide an atmosphere with much needed day to day routine. Mia is up to date on all vaccinations, heartworm negative, current on all preventatives, and will of course be spayed prior to adoption. She will require time, patience, and understanding to adjust to a new life as a well loved and cared for friend, but in the end she will be well worth the effort. Are you the one who will light the way? Will you be the one who sees the day she leaps with joy?
