Timber is a 2.5 year old Great Pyrenees/Norwegian Elkhound mix that is one of the most cuddly, loving dogs you’ll ever meet. She’ll stay by your side everywhere you go and show you lots of affection (including being the first to greet you when you come through the door). Timber can be content to relax with people inside, but she also has lots of energy that she likes to let out in the backyard, on runs or especially at the dog park where she gets along great with both people and dogs. Because Timber loves people so much, she can become protective of her house and family. Due to her protective nature, she also feels the need to have her guard up when she is restrained on a leash, causing her to feel defensive towards other dogs. She has been great staying in homes with other dogs where she doesn’t feel the need to be the pack leader, so she could be a great companion for another dog. Given these issues she would do best with an experienced owner in an environment where she doesn’t need to be on a leash all the time (e.g. home with a fenced-in yard) or where she can go on walks without many other dogs around.
