Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Cool Hand Luke is a handsome Coonhound that just wants a family to love and appreciate him for the sweet guy he is. He was picked up as a stray in Tennessee and taken to a kill shelter. His owner was located, but told the shelter they did not want him back?? Luckily for Luke, the shelter contacted this rescue and we knew we had to save him. Luke is now in a foster home where he has the added bonus of playing with 4 other Coonhounds. He plays well with them and seems to recognize which is the most playful; and he knows how to respect the older alpha male. Luke obviously(being in a home where he was not wanted) lacked structure and routine in his life; but is catching on quickly. He is a sweet, and affectionate boy who loves attention and is always ready for a car ride. He also likes to play ball and will bring it back to you...most of the time. Luke has never had an accident in his crate; although he doesn't like being in it at all! He has only had one accident indoors and that was due to "human error" as he wasn't taken outside soon enough. Luke is very energetic and really needs an outlet for that energy such as regular walks or jogs, hiking, swimming etc. His foster family thinks he is very intelligent and therefore would probably be a good candidate for some type of structured play, flyball etc. He is only approx 1 1/2 yrs old and has a lot of life and fun and loyalty to give his new family. Luke likes children but might be too strong and active to be with small children. He is a bit too interested in the cats; not in a real aggressive way, but we recommend a very "dog-savvy" cat or cats only, to be safe. Luke is in good weight at about 68 lbs. He is healthy, neutered, up to date on all shots and up to date on heartworm and flea and tick prevention.
