For Adopt a Pet and the PEDIGREE® brand, October is all about finding homes for dogs in shelters. Adopt this month for a PEDIGREE® Wet Food Pouch and a chance to win a Homecoming-style photo shoot and shelter donation.
I found a new home! Plenty of my friends are looking for one too. Check out other pets at this shelter, or start a new search.

Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Ace (nickname Billy) is a sweet older guy who was dropped off at a rural KY shelter for unknown reasons. Our vet thinks he is probably around 10 years old. He is only 36 pounds and looks like a bear cub or a big fuzzy puppy, but the greying muzzle is a giveaway to his experience.
He's pretty funny actually, and he has hound brays instead of barks (Beagle?), but his coat and black tongue are Chow Chow. He's unique and darn cute.
Ace was shy and confused when he first arrived in his foster home, but after a week he started showing his sweet and loving personality. He is housetrained and can be left with free roam of the house while his foster mom is at work. He doesn't disturb anything that isn't given to him. He definitely lived in a house at one time because his house manners are impeccable.
Like most older dogs he does have arthritis in his hind legs which limits his mobility. He doesn't do more than a few steps and he prefers carpet over slick floors. Like most dogs with arthritis he prefers walking on carpet. When he is on carpet or outside in the grass he is quite spry and bounces like a rabbit!
He also absolutely LOVES short walks around the block. He cries with excitement when his leash comes out, and he knows he is going on a stroll. Check out his 'Happy Boy' video.
We currently have Ace on Tramadol and Rimadyl and suggest he stays on these medications in his new home (or a variation thereof recommend by your vet). If you are looking for a calm companion with a heart of gold, Ace may be the guy for you.
Contact his foster mom, Donna, at DOFFEN28@aol.com if you'd like more information, or if you'd like to meet this sweet boy. Thanks for considering a rescued soul.
All HART dogs are spayed/neutered, microchipped and up to date on all vaccines, including bordatella and rabies. They are heartworm tested and on preventative for heartworm, fleas, and ticks. If you are interested in any of our pets, you must complete an online dog adoption application at www.rescueAhart.org . The application will put you in touch with this wonderful dog's foster family so you can schedule a meeting. Thanks! www.rescueAhart.org
