Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Meet Jewell! This sweetheart arrived at the shelter on February 24, 2014 after she was pulled from another shelter to help them make space. This girl is a big lovebug, 6 years old, spayed and current on all vaccinations. She walks great on a leash and wants nothing more than to be loved and in a home. She does good with other dogs, very laid back disposition. Jewell did test positive for heartworms and has been started on the slow kill method, normally within two years they will test negative. Come to the shelter and meet his little girl and see how special she really is! Up date: Jewel was one of the 3 dogs that were selected for the fast treatment for heart worms. She will have to be kept calm for 4 weeks while the worms are breaking apart. Yay for Jewel!
If you have another dog and are interested in meeting another potential new furry member please bring him or her to the shelter and meet on neutral ground before adopting. No need to shuffle the animals around any more than necessary. Please know that 1 mosquito bite can create heart worms and they can be fatal if not treated. It is VERY important to keep your pets healthy and protected by keeping them on a once a month heart worm and flea/tick prevention. These animals are counting on you as their owner to provide them with lots a love and the proper health care so PLEASE make sure you are aware and prepared before adopting. Owning a pet is an extra expense and responsibility but is so worth every minute and penny you invest in them. They will add lots of joy and unconditional love if given a fair chance.
The shelter is open Mon.-Fri. 10-1, 2-5, Sat. 10-2, and on Sunday during the spring and summer from 11-3. Adopt a homeless pet and save a life. If you can not adopt right now come out and volunteer and make a difference in the lives of these animals while they await their FOREVER home.
