Lisa Levenstein Foundation/The Good Dog Foundation, DBA Cocker Connection is a small, non-profit rescue organization (Tax ID #73-1653911) whose mission it is to save as many homeless Cocker Spaniels as we can in our area. As we do not have our own facility, we depend almost entirely on foster homes to help us with our rescue dogs until we can place them in their forever homes, though we do not always have foster homes and must then board doggies until one opens up. We are always desperately in need of foster homes, so please, please contact us if you are ever able to help by being a foster! Just think of it as babysitting for a friend's dog for a while. Some fosters are short term and some end up being longer. Just fill out the application and submit it to get started.
We also have a sanctuary program available for some of our little seniors who are 10 years old and older. You adopt the doggie and provide the loving forever home for him, and we will cover any medical expenses for him for the remainder of his life. We desperately need donations for these little sanctuary seniors as they all have medical needs!
We also work with some of the other Cocker rescue groups in Southern California, mainly Second Chance Cocker Rescue and San Diego Spaniel Rescue. Our doggies come from either their owners or from the myriad of animal shelters in the huge Southern California area.

We serve Southern California for the most part, though we do adopt further out. We do not ship any of our animals any place. For prospective adopters that are out of our local area, we will arrange for another person or group known to us to do the home check after we have received the application and have talked to the prospective adopter. The prospective adopter must come to us to meet the dog and then drive the dog back to their home if they have been approved. We adopt almost exclusively in Southern California, but we will also adopt to Northern California, Arizona, and Nevada.
Additional adoption info
Cocker Connection has an Adoption Application and an Adoption Contract which are necessary for all of our adoptions. We also require a home check so that we can meet all of the people who will be involved with the doggie.
We do ask for an adoption donation of between $150 and $350, depending on the age and health of the little one who has been adopted. Our general breakdown is as follows: 0-3 years=$350, 4-8 years=$300, 9-12 years=$250, 13 years and older=$150. (It is less than double the cost if you are adopting two doggies.) All donations go 100% directly to the expenses for our little rescues, so this is not a price for the individual dog, but rather a donation to a non-profit organization to help all of the doggies. This includes all medical expenses (which can be considerable if the doggies need surgery or extra medical treatments or medications!), boarding when we do not have a foster home, grooming, high quality food, toys, beds, blankets, ID tags, collars and leashes. Without our donations, we would not be able to continue rescuing these little lost and abandoned souls. All administrative and transporting costs are donated by the administrators of this organization. With Paypal donations, every cent except for the fees that they charge us goes directly to the care of the doggies.
